Complete/Partial Dentures
Dentures are custom-made dental appliances designed to replace missing teeth and restore both functionality and aesthetics to your smile. They are a versatile solution for individuals who have lost teeth due to aging, injury, decay, or other dental health issues. Dentures not only help you chew and speak effectively but also play a vital role in supporting the structure of your face, preventing the sagging appearance that can occur when teeth are missing.
At My Gentle Dentist, we offer two main types of dentures to suit your unique needs: complete and partial. Complete dentures are ideal for those who have lost all their teeth in the upper or lower arch, while partial dentures are designed for patients who still have some natural teeth remaining. Both options are meticulously crafted using durable, high-quality materials that mimic the look and feel of natural teeth.
Complete Dentures

Complete dentures are custom-made dental appliances designed to replace all the teeth in either the upper or lower jaw, or both. They are an excellent solution for individuals who have lost all their natural teeth due to aging, gum disease, or other dental conditions. Made from durable, natural-looking materials, complete dentures restore your ability to chew, speak, and smile with confidence. These dentures are carefully crafted to fit comfortably and securely, ensuring they function effectively while enhancing your facial structure.
At My Gentle Dentist, we focus on creating complete dentures that look great and feel natural, improving your overall quality of life.
Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are a removable fixture designated to substitute for a maximum of two lost teeth while taking into account the rest of a person’s natural teeth. They are constructed with an individualized base which can be made of acrylic or metal, and then have fake teeth fitted onto them to close the gaps in one’s mouth. Partial dentures are held in place using clasps or precision attachments that sit around the remaining teeth you have in your mouth. This option gives a person the ability to chew food as well as pronounce words effectively, avoids the mobility of adjacent teeth and helps perfect the person’s smile.
At My Gentle Dentist, we customize the design of partial dentures to make them strong and look natural.
BENEFITS OF
Dentures

Dentures provide a wide range of advantages that extend beyond merely filling in gaps left by lost teeth. Here’s how they can improve your oral health, functionality, and self-esteem:
1. Restores Chewing Function
With dentures, you can enjoy a diverse diet, enhancing your nutrition and overall well-being by regaining the ability to chew comfortably and effectively.
2. Enhances Communication
The absence of teeth can hinder your speech. Dentures help restore clarity and boost your confidence when talking, making it easier for others to understand you.
3. Improves Aesthetic Appeal
By closing the spaces created by missing teeth, dentures enhance your smile and support the structure of your face, helping to prevent sagging and maintain a youthful appearance.
4. Increases Self-Confidence
A complete and natural-looking smile provided by dentures can significantly boost your self-esteem, allowing you to smile and engage with others without hesitation.
5. Cost-Effective Tooth Replacement
When compared to other dental restoration options, dentures are often a more budget-friendly solution for replacing several missing teeth.
6. Tailored for Comfort
Today’s dentures are designed to fit your mouth perfectly, ensuring both comfort and durability for everyday wear.
7. Simple to Care For
Being removable, dentures are easy to clean and maintain, promoting long-term oral health.

Dentures are designed to look as similar to your natural teeth as possible, making them almost unnoticeable. They will improve the appearance of your smile and resolve any facial sagging caused by missing teeth
Dentures are not a suitable treatment for everyone. Many factors, including, but not limited to your periodontal status, caries rate and current degree of your edentulism (tooth-less-ness), will be considered by your dentist. You need to consult with a qualified Dentist to see if you are a suitable candidate for this treatment. In general, the amount of required maintenance on the dentures may be a bit high. They do require daily care and occasionally maintenance in dental office or dental lab. However, when dentist instructions are followed correctly, and the denture is maintained properly despite the extra effort required, they usually provide satisfying results for many patients who have lost their teeth.
- When you lose a tooth, the nearby teeth may tilt or drift into the empty space. The teeth in your other jaw may also shift into the space. This can affect your bite and place more stress and wear on your teeth and jaws.
- You may find it harder to clean teeth that have shifted, which can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. This is why it’s important to replace missing teeth.
- Facial collapse: When teeth are lost and not replaced, the face looks older. The lips appear thin and flattened. The chin moves forward and upward and appears pointed
When it comes to teeth replacement, generally, there are three options:
- Removable dental appliance (complete denture or partial denture)
- Fixed dental bridge (cemented)
- Dental implant.
On the left is a quick comparison table to show you the differences at a glance:
Note: Your Dentist may also recommend crowns, or “caps,” on your natural teeth to improve the way a removable partial denture fits your mouth.
Implants are an alternative to dentures and bridges. Implants are titanium rods/ screws (in layman terms), which are surgically placed into the jawbone and act as anchors for fastening dentures or crowns onto.
Eating: When you replace missing teeth, eating is much easier. But it takes practice…
- Begin by eating soft foods cut into small pieces.
- Chew on both sides of the mouth to keep the pressure even.
- Do not chew gum or eat very sticky or hard foods.
Speaking:
- If you have missing teeth, wearing a removable partial denture can help you speak more clearly.
- If you find that some words are hard to say at first, try reading out loud in front of a mirror.
With time and practice, you will be able to speak well. With a Little Patience Eating & Speaking with Dentures become very easy!
It is advised that you remove your dentures at night while you sleep to allow the gum tissue to rest and encourage normal stimulation and cleansing by the tongue and saliva.
You Should Not Wear Your Removable Partial Denture 24 Hours a Day.
Usually your dentist will make follow-up appointments to look for pressure points or sore spots. They will also adjust your partial denture so that it fits comfortably. Let us Advise You on How Many Hours a Day You Should Wear Dentures
Time, patience, and willpower are your biggest allies when adjusting to your new dentures for the first time. Your new full or partial dentures may feel awkward or bulky during the first few weeks until your mouth finally adapts. A little bit of practice is also required when putting your dentures in and taking them out. Before long, they will fit into place with relative ease.
Our Dentist at My Gentle Dentist will provide you with very specific aftercare instructions, both verbal and written.
If cared for properly, dentures are expected to last up to 5-8 years before needing replacement. During this time, they wear out and your mouth changes shape. This is why your dentures will eventually need to be relined or remade to remain as safe, comfortable and natural looking as possible.
The price of dentures is dependent on the type of false teeth you need and the materials used. Please contact My Gentle Dentist for more details.

Always consult one of our professional Dentists if you wish to make adjustments to your dentures. If a person who lacks the proper training makes any adjustments or repairs to your dentures, it could seriously damage your dentures and harm your health. If your dentures break, crack or chip, or if one of the teeth suddenly becomes loose, we can often make the necessary adjustments or repairs on the same day.
Never attempt to solve the problem yourself.
Always Consult a Professional Dentist Before Making Adjustments to Your Dentures
See your oral health professional if you have:
- Pain
- Dentures that do not fit well or are uncomfortable
- Loose teeth
- Bleeding gums
- Swelling
- Ulcers (sores) that last more than two weeks
- A gum abscess (pus-filled sore on the gum)

Dentures, like natural teeth, must be cleaned to keep your mouth healthy and odor-free.
- Brush the surfaces of your denture inside and out morning and night.
- Dishwashing liquid soap or special denture cleaning solutions are recommended.
- Special denture cleansing toothpaste can be used as well.
- Your Dentist at My Gentle Dentist will advise you very specifically about cleaning and aftercare of your dentures.
- Store your dentures in water or denture cleanser soaking solution when you are not wearing them. This helps keep the shape and prevents drying out. This is not applicable to Chrome (Metal) partial dentures.
- Do not adjust or repair a denture yourself. You can permanently damage the denture and cause harm to the tissue in your mouth
- Do not use scouring powders on your dentures, as they can remove the denture materials or roughen the surface.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or bleach to remove stains. They can change the colour of the gum coloured acrylic and may cause irreversible harm to the denture.
- Keep your dentures away from pets.
