Tooth Removal for
Optimal Oral Health.
Tooth Extraction
Tooth removal is a common dental procedure where a tooth is carefully taken out to protect your overall oral health. It may be necessary when a tooth is severely decayed, damaged beyond repair, impacted, or causing crowding. Extractions are also often recommended for problematic wisdom teeth or as part of orthodontic treatment planning.

PLEASE NOTE: My Gentle Dentist Arana Hills will take thorough medical history to make sure your overall health is safeguarded. Your Dentist may want to make sure all conditions are stable or treated before you undergo the tooth extraction.
You might be prescribed antibiotics in the days leading up to the procedure if:
- Your surgery is expected to be long
- You have an infection or a weakened immune system

Recovery from tooth extraction only takes a few days – but you need to keep in mind 3 factors:
1. Immediate Steps
- Use the recommended medication Prescribed by the Dentist
- Apply ice externally on the extracted area to prevent swelling
- Ensure you stick to light duties for next 1-2 days.
2. Next 48 Hours
- Avoid spitting forcefully
- Avoid rinsing your mouth forcefully for the next 48 hours
- Do not drink from a straw or try sucking anything from a bottle or cup
- Rinse your mouth with a solution of 240ml of warm water and ½ teaspoon of salt.
3. Dietary Choices
- Avoid smoking as this may inhibit healing
- Eat only soft foods and drinks like yoghurt and soup
- After 24 hours begin to introduce solid foods back into your diet
- Continue to brush your teeth and tongue but avoid the extraction area till it fully heals.
